Partial Operations to Relieve Suburban Congestion
By Dharmesh Prajapati

Today marks a milestone for Mumbai. The partial operations of Metro Lines 2B and 9 have finally commenced. For the commuters of Mankhurd, Mandale, and Dahisar, this is the end of a long, frustrating wait. These lines are crucial because they don’t just add tracks; they connect the eastern and western suburbs in a way that bypasses the “bottlenecks” of the SV Road and Eastern Express Highway.
With Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the Deputy CMs inaugurating the lines today, the focus shifts to the “Last-Mile Connectivity” β can our bus and auto-rickshaw networks keep up with the Metroβs speed?
Editorial Note: Infrastructure is the backbone of Mumbai, but we must ensure that the “Partial” opening doesn’t lead to “Partial” utility. The full integration of these lines is what the city truly needs. β Dharmesh Prajapati
