Direct Accountability in Gorakhpur

By Dharmesh Prajapati

In Uttar Pradesh, the “Janata Darshan” at the Gorakhnath Temple has become a symbol of direct governance. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s recent session with over 100 people underscores a commitment to last-mile delivery. Whether it’s housing for the needy or financial aid for serious illnesses, the message is clear: the government is listening.

The UP model of governance in 2026 continues to lean heavily on this “Direct Access” philosophy. While critics point to the centralization of power, the average citizen in Gorakhpur sees it as a swift resolution of grievances that would otherwise be lost in the files of Lucknow.

Editorial Note: Governance via “Darshan” is effective for immediate relief, but for a state as large as UP, systemic institutional strength must eventually match personal leadership. — Dharmesh Prajapati
