AHMEDABAD โ June 11, 2026
In a shocking twist to a suspected accidental death, a police investigation in Gujaratโs Ahmedabad district has revealed that a man was allegedly murdered by his own wife and son. The duo, who initially claimed the victim died after falling down a flight of stairs, have been arrested after investigators uncovered glaring inconsistencies in their story.
The ‘Accidental’ Fall
The incident occurred on the evening of June 6, 2026, in the Viramgam area of Ahmedabad. The victim, identified as Deepak Kumar Radhanpura, was rushed to the Mahatma Gandhi Hospital by his family members after sustaining severe, fatal injuries.
At the hospital, his wife and son informed the attending doctors and local authorities that Deepak had lost his balance and suffered a tragic fall down the stairs at their residential home. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The Investigation Unravels the Truth
While the family attempted to frame the incident as an unfortunate accident, local police grew suspicious during the preliminary questioning and the review of the forensic data.
- Inconsistent Accounts: During interrogation, the statements provided by the mother and son regarding the timeline of the “fall” failed to match up.
- Long-Standing Dispute: Neighbors and extended family members revealed to investigators that the household had been plagued by a violent, long-running domestic dispute.
- Forensic Evidence: The nature of the injuries on Deepak’s body did not align with a typical fall from a staircase, pointing instead to a blunt-force physical assault.
Confronted with the forensic evidence and the contradictions in their testimonies, the police cracked the case. The investigation revealed that during a heated argument on June 6, the mother-son duo physically assaulted Deepak, inflicting the injuries that ultimately took his life.
Accused Under Arrest
Ahmedabad police have officially arrested both the wife and the son under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder and destroying evidence. Further forensic evaluation is underway to determine the exact weapon or method used in the assault.
