Jagran correspondent, New Delhi: Renowned journalist Anjana Om Kashyap, along with TV Today Network, has filed a defamation suit before the Delhi High Court against exam coaching teacher Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, over alleged derogatory remarks.
The case has been filed in connection with Khan Sir’s allegedly defamatory comments about the journalist in relation to her coverage of “star teachers.” During a television program, Anjana Om Kashyap criticised the growing influence of star teachers, following which Khan Sir made several remarks questioning her.
The Rs 2 crore defamation suit seeks the removal of allegedly defamatory content from online and social media platforms.
In the defamation suit, Anjana alleged that videos, posts, and broadcasts circulated across various digital platforms referred to her using terms such as “bikau partaker”, “chatukar”, “dalaali”, and “fake news dukaan”, among others. According to the petition, these remarks were made by Khan Sir in response to her coverage of “star teachers.”
Anjana Om Kashyap has said that the posts and related content have subjected her to harassment, unwanted attention, and safety concerns for her family. The petition is expected to be taken up for hearing in the Delhi High Court.
The matter will be heard tomorrow by a vacation bench of Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, as reported by Live Law.
The controversy reportedly began following a live debate on the NEET examination system, during which Kashyap allegedly criticised online teachers, describing them as “frauds” and “explainers” chasing views.
FIR In Coaching Centre Case, Fire Safety Notice Issued To Hospital
The development comes amid Khan Sir’s FIR in the coaching centre firing and vandalism case. The controversy began after an incident of vandalism at the Khan Global Studies (KGS) Institute in Patna. According to police, a group of 15 to 20 individuals allegedly entered the premises on Tuesday night, damaged property, and pelted stones at the institute.
His name was later added to the FIR after several new videos related to the incident surfaced a day after the coaching centre was vandalised. A case has been registered at the Kadamkuan police station under provisions of the Arms Act, along with allegations of providing false information.
On Saturday, his lawyer Arvind Kumar Mahuar stated that Faisal Khan, alias “Khan Sir,” Director of Khan Global Studies, will not surrender before the court. He added that an anticipatory bail petition will be filed in the case, likely on Monday.
Adding to his legal troubles, the fire department has issued a notice to the management of Khan Sir’s “Khan Health Care Hospital” after an inspection reportedly found serious violations of fire safety norms. The notice follows a routine safety audit during which officials flagged multiple lapses in compliance, prompting further scrutiny of the facility.
