The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday announced the extension in the deadline for publishing polling station-wise voter lists for the upcoming BMC Elections 2026, officials said.

As per the revised schedule issued by the Maharashtra State Election Commission, polling station-wise voter lists can now be published up to Saturday, January 3, 2026, they said.

Revised election schedule announced

The State Election Commission released the updated programme on December 26, 2025. Earlier, the deadline to publish polling station-wise voter lists was fixed as December 27, 2025. This has now been extended by one week to allow more time for completion and verification, an official statement said.

Deadline for duplicate voters and control charts

According to the instructions given to all municipal corporations in the state, the following deadlines have been fixed-

December 27, 2025: Publication of duplicate voter lists

– Polling station-wise voter list control charts on the official website

January 3 2026: Final publication of polling station-wise voter lists

Voter lists to be published in phases

The State Election Commission has also directed that complete voter lists should be published phase by phase, as and when they are finalised by each municipal corporation, instead of waiting for the entire process to finish, officials said.

Aim of the extension

According to the officials, the extension aims to ensure accuracy of voter data, removal of duplicate entries and better transparency in the election process.

10,300 polling stations across Mumbai

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has also announced that there will be 10,300 polling stations across Mumbai on January 15, 2026, for the BMC polls. Of these 700 odd polling stations are located inside the premises of housing societies.

Effectively, there are 190 more polling stations for the BMC elections in comparison to the polling stations for the assembly elections conducted in 2024, which were pegged at 10,111.
