New research indicates that a mother’s hormone levels during pregnancy, particularly stress-related ones like cortisol, may influence the timing of a baby’s first tooth eruption. Higher maternal levels of cortisol, estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, and T3 were associated with more teeth erupting by certain ages, highlighting the prenatal hormonal environment’s role in early dental development.
